Thanksgiving OTT Release Details

The highly anticipated 2023 slasher film Thanksgiving is preparing for its grand debut on OTT platforms in India. Starting July 13, 2024, Netflix will stream this thrilling movie crafted by Eli Roth, Jeff Rendell, and Roger Birnbaum. Although the release date is just around the corner, there is still a month to go. In the meantime, viewers can rent the film on Prime Video and ZEE5.

Roth’s fictional trailer from Grindhouse (2007) serves as the basis for this film, making it the third full-length adaptation of a Grindhouse trailer. The previous adaptations include Robert Rodriguez’s Machete (2010) and Jason Eisener’s Hobo with a Shotgun (2011). The film’s cast includes Milo Manheim, Nell Verlaque, Rick Hoffman, Gina Gershon, Patrick Dempsey, and Addison Rae, who skillfully depict the horrifying events unfolding in a quiet Massachusetts village during the Thanksgiving holiday. The central theme revolves around a murderer donning a John Carver mask, spreading terror among the unsuspecting residents. After the devastating Black Friday riots, a mysterious killer instills fear in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the historic birthplace of Thanksgiving. As the murderer systematically targets households, the seemingly arbitrary acts of vengeance gradually unravel to reveal a sinister holiday conspiracy. The pressing question remains: who will grace the town’s holiday dinner table this year—the remorseless killer or the resilient survivors?

Thanksgiving was released in November 2023 and grossed a total of $46 million worldwide, receiving praise from critics. There are plans in motion to develop a sequel. Sony’s TriStar Pictures, the original supporter, must feel vindicated in revisiting the town of Plymouth, Mass., given the film’s $15 million budget. According to reports, Roth created a deliberately fake trailer for Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse (a double feature) 16 years ago, which served as the inspiration for Thanksgiving. The movie depicts chaos in a small town caused by an axe-wielding killer following a tragic Black Friday incident, with Patrick Dempsey and TikTok sensation Addison Rae in the lead roles.
