Stage set for counting of votes in Andhra Pradesh

Stage is set for the counting of votes in Andhra Pradesh for the general election to the state Assembly and Parliament. The officials have geared up for the big day. The counting of votes starts at 8 in the morning.

The counting process begins with the counting of postal ballots followed by the EVMs. The officials have arranged 14 tables for every Assembly and Parliament constituency. There are the lowest of 13 rounds to the highest of 29 rounds. The results of Kovvur in East Godavari and Narsapur in West Godavari district are scheduled to be cleared first as they have just 13 rounds.

The constituencies of Bheemili in Visakhapatnam and Panyam in Nandyal districts have 25 rounds and the results of which are expected to take a longer time. The Rampachodavaram of Alluri Sitaramaraju district and Chandragiri of Tirupati district are expected to take longer time as they have 29 rounds to complete the counting.

Of the total 175 Assembly constituencies, counting of votes will be completed in 111 Assembly constituencies in less than 20 rounds. The results of these constituencies are expected to be out by 2 pm. The officials have made the arrangements to complete the counting in these constituencies before lunch.

Among other constituencies 60 constituencies have 21 to 25 rounds to complete the counting. The results of these constituencies are expected to be out by 4 pm, the officials said. The other four constituencies have 26 to 29 rounds to complete the counting. Results from here are expected to be out by 7 pm, the officials say.

Meanwhile, chief electoral officer, Mukhesh Kumar Meena, told the district officials to enforce law and order at every counting centre. He told them not to spare any disturbance at the counting centres. He also asked them to send away anyone whoever created trouble at the counting centre.
