OTT Review:Bhamakalapam 2 Passable Heist Thriller

Story:

Her troubled past has caused Anupama (Priyamani) to pledge to keep to herself and not to involve in others’ life. She and her maid Shilpa (Sharanya Pradeep) operate a restaurant and compete in the Cooking Idol 2023 competition that is being hosted by business tycoon Antony Lobo (Anuj Gurwara), who has evil plans. Anupama’s life takes an unexpected turn as she is coerced by corrupt NCB officer Sadanand (Raghu Mukharjee) to take the competition’s trophy. Why does Anupama have to help Sadanand? What is the motive behind Sadanand’s threat of the trophy? What does Anupama do to overcome all the problems? Answers to these questions can only be known after watching the movie.

Performances:

Priyamani continued the good work from the first part, and she owned the character of Anupama. Sharanya Pradeep entertains well with her punch dialogues. Seerat Kapoor and Anuj Gurwara did not get much scope to perform. Chaitu Jonnalagadda, Sundip Ved, Anish Gurwara, and Raghu Mukharjee others were alright.

Analysis:

The first part of Bhamakalapam was a crime comedy set in apartment backdrop. The sequel turns out to be a heist thriller with more importance to violence and police. Apart from the major three lead characters, there are many new characters present in the film. Most of the proceedings take place in a Star Hotel, adding the intrigue factor.

Positives:

Other than the performances of Priyamani and Sharanya, a few comic sequences and twists work well for the film. Especially Sharanya got some hilarious scenes and one gets a feeling that she should have got more scenes. The starting scene raises the anticipation levels. The ending scene was interesting.

Negatives:

The comedy parts work well, but they are present for a very short span of time. The whole gang of villains looked lifeless as no one appeared as dreadful they should have been. Because of this, the scenes became predictable. Especially, Sadanand’s character lacked the required intensity.

Bhamakalapam 2 Verdict:

Bhamakalapam 2 is a passable heist thriller offers entertainment in parts only. Priyamani’s impressive portrayal of Anupama and Sharanya Pradeep’s hilarious act as Shilpa and are the positive aspects of the film, while the predictable feel, lack of a strong villain act as the drawbacks for it.
