Kannada Film Abbabba is now available on OTT

Abbabba, a Kannada comedy film starring Likith Shetty and Amrutha Iyengar, has recently become available on OTT platforms. Originally released in theaters on February 16, the movie is now exclusively on Amazon Prime Video for purchase. Directed by KM Chaitanya, the HD version of the film can be purchased for Rs 79.

Unlike Yuva, which initially launched as early access and later became accessible for subscribers, Abbabba is the most recent Kannada film to be exclusively available for rental on the streaming platform. Following Geetha Bharathi Bhat’s Ravike Prasanga a few days ago, Abbabba now joins the ranks. According to sources, only a limited number of films led by popular stars continue to secure outright sale deals on the platform, while those with favorable reviews opt for pay-per-view contracts. The remaining films are released on the store, where the chances of recovering costs are even slimmer than pay-per-view. Abbabba is a remake of the Malayalam movie Adi Kapyare Kootamani, released nearly ten years ago. The Kannada adaptation faithfully recreates the original film, following its storyline scene by scene, with only a minor alteration made by Chaitanya. Abbabba revolves around the events that unfold when a girl is secretly brought into an all-boys hostel. Apart from the specific circumstances that led to the girl’s presence in the hostel, everything else remains identical to the original Malayalam, which can be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.

Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Neeraj Madhav, Vineeth Mohan, and Namitha Pramod are the main stars of Adi Kapyare Kootamani, the original of Abbabba. Likith Shetty, Thandav Ram, Ajay Raj, and Dhanraj Achar also played important roles in the film. Ann Augustine, a Malayalam actress, debuted as a producer in the Kannada version of the film, in collaboration with Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House. KRG Studios distributed the film and later formed a new partnership with Vijay Babu. They have announced their joint production, Padakkalam, and Vijay will also act in Uttarakaanda, which KRG Studios produced.
