As the campaign for November 30 general election in Telangana is picking up momentum, political parties are making their own efforts to woo the voters. The parties are changing strategies to win the election.
The BJP leadership from Delhi is now focusing on Telangana election as the Congress is in advantage here. The victory of Congress in neighbouring Karnataka had given boost to the party in Telangana and is riding with high spirits. Several Karnataka leaders are campaigning for the party here and meeting the voters.
Keeping this in mind, the BJP leadership from Delhi is said to have reached out to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu seeking his help for them in Telangana. The TDP is not contesting the elections here this time.
The party is said to have taken the decision to help the Congress, headed by A Revanth Reddy.
However, BJP had asked Chandrababu Naidu to support them in Telangana so as to cut the vote size of the Congress. The BJP does not want the Congress to get the advantage in any way and wants to bring down its vote size.
The BJP leadership had also promised Naidu some legal relief from the Supreme Court or the AP high court if the party helped them in the Telangana elections. Chandrababu Naidu is in big trouble now with the
AP government filing five cases against him and even arresting him. The court had sent him to the Rajamahendravaram central jail, where he was lodged for 52 days.
Naidu is currently on interim bail on health grounds and is scheduled to report to the jail superintendent on or before November 28. There are quash petitions and bail petition in Supreme Court and anticipatory bail petitions in AP high court.
The BJP leadership had promised some relief to Chandrababu Naidu from these cases, if only he helped the party in Telangana election. It is to be seen how far Chandrababu Naidu would help the BJP, as he is more interested in helping the Congress headed by his chela Revanth Reddy.
