Well! After two long years of wait, finally, the season 2 of House of the Dragon returns with its episode 1 starting off after the events that concluded in Season 1 finale. It deals with mourning on one end and the strive for revenge on the other. Meanwhile, the side of the murderers builds up with intriguing drama which is the heart and soul of the series.
While the war between Rhaenyra and Alicent is about to be unleashed in further episodes, episode 1 teases the events leading up to the potential conflict. Alicent’s lack of hesitant heartfelt mourning for Rhaenyra’s lost son, Lucerys Velaryon, adds significant impact to the story.
Rhaenyra’s order for Aemond sets off a secret war already initiated by Daemon, who commands the killing of King Aegon II’s son. This conclusion ends the episode on a high note, which typically defines the strength of the season. With revenge already taken without the knowledge of either Rhaenyra or Alicent, the war between the two is now underway. This promises to be a massive conflict for sure. As far as the first episode is concerned, it’s just the beginning of what is yet to be unleashed, providing insights into what to expect. A decent start to the season indeed.
