Ever since Dubai Seenu, director Sreenu Vaitla has relied on his confidence, integrating bits of action while letting entertainment take center stage. This formula worked well for him until Aagadu, where his downfall began, as audiences no longer embraced his routine style. The subsequent failures of Bruce Lee and Mister further solidified his decline.
In an attempt to break free from his comfort zone, Vaitla tried to make a comeback with Amar Akbar Anthony, starring Ravi Teja, but it bombed at the box office, sidelining him from the film industry for nearly five years. Now, he is set to return with Gopichand’s Vishwam.
Judging by the trailer, it appears Vaitla is sticking to his signature style of action-entertainers, with hints of comedy intertwined with action sequences. The protagonist takes on the role of a commando, and it seems the focus is still on entertainment. Can the current cast in the genre help Vaitla regain his footing, or will it go the other way? All eyes are on October 11th, when the film hits screens during Dussehra 2024. The success of Vishwam is also crucial for the careers of Gopichand and Kavya Thappar.
