A notorious and powerful terrorist is after a girl to kill her as she witnesses a murder committed by him. Viswam (Gopichand) takes the responsibility of saving her. What is the connection between Viswam and the kid? What is the background of Viswam? The answers to these questions form the rest of the story.
Gopichand did what was required, and he didn’t have to do anything different from his earlier roles. Kavya Thapar looked glamorous, and her character did not have any scope apart from that. Naresh has a lengthy role, but its effect was just okay. 30 years Prudhvi’s comedy was fine and Vennela Kishore’s comedy in the train episode was hilarious. Sunil, Jisshu Sen Gupta, Shyam, Bharath, Mukesh Rishi and others were okay.
Srinu Vaitla made a comeback after a long gap with Viswam. He incorporated all the elements from his previous successful films, but his execution was not as good as it should have been. There were a few fun portions in the first half and Vennela Kishore’s track in the latter half which worked well for the film. However, with the main plot, Vaitla failed to bring the required freshness and engaging factor.
The initial comedy involving Prudhvi was good. The pre-interval episode of mother sentiment was also fine. The train episode in the second half where Vennela Kishore enters the scene can be said as the biggest plus point of the film.
The main plot of the film is outdated. The entire thread of villain/terrorist looked utmost routine and ineffective. The love track between Gopichand and Kavya Thapar sounded like an imitation of previous films of Vaitla. The comedy scenes involving the other artists except Prudhvi and Vennela Kishore were too farce and artificial. Also, after good fun moments in the second half, the final half an hour was very stretched.
