More changes expected in ruling YSR Congress

The ruling YSR Congress is all set to go for more changes in the days to come, ahead of the next round of general election in 2024. The party had already changed the constituency incharges in 11 Assembly constituencies and is set to change more in the days to come.

The party shifted Minister Meruga Nagarjuna from Vemuru constituency to Santhanuthalapadu constituency. Similarly, Minister Adimulapu Suresh was shifted from Yerragondapalem to Kondepi and Minister Vidudala Rajani from Chiralakulipet to Guntur West. Former minister Mekathoti Sucharita was shifted from Prathipadu to Tadikonda constituency.

As sitting MLA from Mangalagiri Alla Ramakrishna Reddy resigned for his post and the party, the leadership named Ganji Chiranjeevi as the new constituency incharge. Constituency incharges were also changed in Addanki, Repalle, Chilakaluripet, Vemuru and Prathipadu assembly constituencies.

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is learned to have secured a fresh survey in the state, particularly after the Telangana Assembly elections. The ruling BRS had lost the power to the Congress, because the BRS leadership did not change the sitting MLAs. Jagan Mohan Reddy does not want to take a change as there is dissent for several MLAs.

The chief minister is planning to shift the sitting MLAs from one constituency to another. He is also said to be planning to bring some MPs to the Assembly and send some MLAs to the Parliament. He is said to be seriously working on these lines to ensure that the party retained power in the 2024 general election.

The chief minister had warned the MLAs of dissent in the constituencies and told them to go to the people. He launched Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam programme where he wanted all MLAs to visit every house. However, some MLAs have not visited the houses while some participated in the programme partially.

Taking all these factors into consideration, the chief minister is now busy preparing the final list of candidates for the next round of general elections. The party would have at least 50 new faces for the next election, sources said.
