YSR Congress writes to Police Chief against TDP violence

The YSR Congress party has written a letter to the Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta to highlight the alarming increase in violent incidents perpetrated by members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) against YSRCP party cadres and leaders since the announcement of elections in Andhra Pradesh on March 16, 2024.

Expressing deep concern, the YSR Congress Party has emphasized that the situation has reached critical levels, endangering the safety and well-being of YSRCP members. Shockingly, there have been instances where law enforcement authorities either failed to intervene or, worse, sided with the perpetrators.

Strongly condemning these acts of violence, YSRCP calls upon the concerned authorities to swiftly and decisively address the safety and security of its members.

In response to these distressing developments, YSRCP urgently requests the Election Commission of India to take immediate and decisive action to address the following:

a. Ensure the safety and security of YSRCP cadres and leaders by providing adequate protection and deploying additional security personnel in areas prone to violence.

b. Conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incidents of violence and intimidation perpetrated by TDP members, and hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions.

c. Take appropriate measures to prevent further acts of violence and intimidation during the electoral process, including strict enforcement of the law and imposition of severe penalties on those found guilty of violating election laws.
