Juni OTT Release Details

Pruthvi Ambaar found himself in a unique predicament in February of this year. Instead of having just one or two film releases, he had three lined up, with two of them scheduled for the same day. The year started with a romantic film, Juni, directed by Vaibhav Mahadev. Juni, starring Pruthvi alongside Rishika Naik, delved into the depths of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) rather than being solely a romantic drama.

The crux of the film Juni revolves around Rishika’s character, Juni, who is based on a real-life person and suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). The storyline focuses on her journey and how she enters a relationship with Partha (Pruthvi). The film explores whether their bond can withstand the challenges and fluctuations that arise due to her condition. The movie garnered favorable feedback from critics, yet it faced challenges at the box office due to multiple releases during that week and month. Nevertheless, it has successfully secured a place on OTT platforms and can now be streamed. Juni has been acquired by Amazon Prime Video, which is among the limited platforms that occasionally support Kannada cinema.

Vaibhav’s first film as a director shed light on the disorder and its triggers, but in doing so, it compromised the entertainment factor. The filmmaker drew inspiration from his personal interactions with the real-life Juni for this film. Pruthvi, on the other hand, has released two more films, Matsyagandha and For Regn, but they have yet to make it to OTT platforms. His next release, Bhuvanam Gaganam, will most likely be a theatrical film where he portrays a character with a disability. This travel-based movie also features Pramod and Rachel David (known for Love Mocktail 2) in the cast.
