Yodha Movie Review: 1st & 2nd Half Report

1st half: Bad

The film starts off promisingly with a stylish introduction of Siddharth Malhotra as a commando officer and a romantic song featuring Siddharth Malhotra and Raashi Khanna. However, when the Hizak situation arises, the makers fail to create an impact, leaving spectators on a dull note.

What makes it even more boring is that after the conclusion of the first mission, the buildup for the next mission is equally dull. It seems the makers were caught up in their own perceptions, neglecting to make it interesting for the audience during these thrilling moments. On one end, viewers have no clue what’s going on, and on the other end, the lackluster ongoing scenes make them eagerly wait for the interval card, which eventually reveals a bit of suspense.

Both Raashi and Disha have significant screen time and seem important to the subject. However, the dull narration causes these roles to fade away.

2nd half: Below Average

It starts off uninterestingly, creating a confusion in this boring thriller. However, as the film delves into the revelation of suspense, and once everything is clear on air, it gets better, leading to a decent climax.

The suspense could have worked if the elements leading to this revelation were handled well, as it has a notable plot. But the makers failed to do so, which left us only to resonate with the last 30 minutes of the film.

Yodha Movie Final Review : “Impressive take-off and landing, but the journey lacks excitement”

The film has a promising plot but unfortunately only gets interesting in the last 30 minutes. The reason behind it would be the makers, right from the beginning of the mission, couldn’t handle the scenes well, where all the drama leading to the twists is supposed to unfold.

The characterizations of the suspenseful members of the mission are to be blamed. Once their hidden truth has been unveiled, they breathe life into these characters. However, before that, there were no proper scenes showcased, leaving the audience without a chance to be engaged.

The protagonist Siddharth Malhotra’s journey as commander between the two missions has not been handled well by the makers, leading to scenes that conclude in the starting stage of the second mission becoming a borefest.

Raashi has grabbed a meaty role, while Disha’s characterization holds potential for the film, which gets better after halfway through.

Action blocks from the film are one of the positives and are to be watched out for, which saves us from a dull narrative.

Overall Verdict: What is the use of having a good dessert when the starters and main course have spoilt? That’s “Yodha” for you.

Note:* It’s a personal opinion. It will not be based on it’s film run or the talk on the other side.
