Jigra Movie Review : 1st and 2nd Half Report

1st Half : Decent

The film starts off slowly as the drama between the sister and brother unfolds, but it later picks up when the main plot is explored, where Vedang Raina’s character, the brother, is falsely imprisoned. From this point, we witness the powerful rampage of Alia Bhatt as the sister, where her performance is top-notch. The sequence from her residence to the face-to-face interaction with her brother was executed brilliantly. Her body language, conveying a mix of fear and bravery, was really well shot.

Alia also excelled during the counseling therapy session, with her scenes offering great rewatch value. Her interactions with Manoj Pahwa were interesting and promising.

Overall, I noticed some similarities with Caity Lotz’s recent film Lockdown, but I found this film’s drama more compelling, with captivating events both inside and outside the prison. Alia and Vedang delivered exceptional performances. The prison break twist added a special touch to the interval scene, setting up what I hope will be a more promising ride as the film progresses.

2nd Half: Good

The story beautifully captures a sister’s unconditional love, showing how far she will go to save her brother’s life. The emotions peak during the last 40 minutes, packed with intense, engaging prison break moments that set the perfect tone for the film’s conclusion.

Alia Bhatt’s performance is captivating, with her action and chase sequences alongside Manoj Pahwa adding an intriguing dynamic. The background score gives these scenes a special touch, heightening the overall impact. I absolutely loved it.

Jigra Review:

“Sibling Love Meets Thrills: A Must-Watch”

Though there were initial hiccups at the start, once the main plot unfolds, there is no turning back. The graph keeps rising from one scene to another. The direction was solid, and Alia Bhatt’s performance was top class.

The prison break moments in the film were handled exceptionally well by the makers. Both attempts, showcased in the second half, hit the right chords with engaging and intense moments, whether entering or escaping the prison.

Alia Bhatt has been outstanding, especially in her dialogue delivery. Equally impressive was Vedang Raina’s portrayal of her brother, which balanced the narrative well and beautifully highlighted the sibling bond. Despite not having much backstory to explore their chemistry, the audience still connects with their relationship due to the director’s exceptional writing.

The songs “Tenu Sang Rakna,” “Jigra Title Track,” and especially the placement of “Phoolon Ka Taaro Ka” give literal goosebumps, landing in unexpected moments. Rahul Ravindran also delivers a solid performance in his role.

A special mention goes to Manoj Pahwa, whose camaraderie with Alia throughout the film was very well portrayed.

Overall Verdict: Just go for it! You’re in for a treat, especially with the last 40 minutes of the prison break sequence.

Note:* It’s a personal opinion. It will not be based on it’s film run or the talk on the other side.
