On February 23, 2024, two Bollywood movies are scheduled to compete at the box office. Crakk: Jeetegaa Toh Jiyegaa, starring Vidyut Jammwal and Arjun Rampal, will go head-to-head with Article 370, starring Yami Gautam. Both films cater to different genres and are expected to draw their own audiences. While Article 370 is a Political-action drama based on actual incidents, Crakk is an out-and-out mass-action entertainer.
Yami Gautam’s film, Article 370, has taken the lead in advance bookings due to the buzz it has generated since the release of its trailer. The movie has garnered attention for being mentioned by PM Modi and offering tickets at a flat price of ₹99 this Friday. On the other hand, Crakk, starring Vidyut Jammwal, seems to fall behind as the trailer fails to offer anything new. The lack of exciting buzz around the film has resulted in a lukewarm response to the film’s ticket bookings.
Article 370 has had a promising start over the first weekend and shows the potential to be a significant success, especially in the domestic market. The film’s political angle is expected to attract audiences. Crakk, featuring Arjun Rampal, Nora Fatehi, and Amy Jackson, will need to wait until the end of the first weekend to determine its fate. While the trailer generated some excitement, it has not received as much attention as Aditya Dhar’s film. For Article 370, Yami Gautam has collaborated once again with her husband and filmmaker, Aditya Dhar, after the success of URI: The Surgical Strike. Directed by Aditya Jambhale, the film revolves around the decision to revoke Jammu & Kashmir’s special status under Article 370. With a runtime of 2 hours and 40 minutes, the film has been given a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification.
