Thangalaan, the latest periodic action drama starring Chiyaan Vikram, has completed its first week at the box office. The film received mixed reviews but was able to perform well at the box office till the weekend. However, on Monday, Thangalaan saw a big crash in the collections, and it is fighting at the box office from then on.
In its first week, Thangalaan gathered 30 crore gross in Tamil Nadu, 7 crore gross in Telugu states, over 3 crore gross in Karnataka, 3 crore gross in Kerala, and overseas gross is 14 crore. So for 7 days, Thangaalan collected 57 crores gross at the worldwide box office. Despite getting good openings, Thangalaan did not turn into a successful film for the makers. However, the film is a profitable venture in the Telugu States.
Directed by Pa Ranjith, Thangalaan is set in the backdrop of 1850 CE in Veppur village of North Arcot. GV Prakash Kumar composed the film’s music, and his background score for a few scenes is getting appreciation from audiences. Apart from Vikram, Thangaaan also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu and Malavika Mohanan in crucial roles. Malavika surprised everyone with her performance, as she never had such a character in her career so far.
