Thangalaan, the period action drama starring Chiyaan Vikram and directed by Pa Ranjith was released on August 15th. The film was one of the most anticipated for Tamil Cinema and though it received mixed reviews upon its theatrical release, there is a. section of audiences and critics which love the film. The latest reports suggest Thangalaan will be released in the Hindi version in cinemas.
On the Independence Day weekend, Bollywood was packed with multiple releases, such as Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein, and Vedaa. So there was no space for Thangalaan to arrive in theaters in North India. Now as the other releases in Hindi have faded out and Stree 2 is completing its first week, Thangaalan is getting released in Hindi on August 30th.
Based on the real stories about the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), Thangalaan attempts to show how the British exploited those gold fields and made Indians as slaves for their quest. Directed by Pa Ranjith, Thangalaan stars Chiyaan Vikram, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Malavika Mohanan in crucial roles. GV Prakash scored the music and KE Gnanavel Raja produced it under the Studio Green Films Private Limited banner.
