Sacred Games will not have third season: Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Nawazuddin Siddiqui marked his entry into the world of OTT platforms with Sacred Games. He portrayed the character of Ganesh Gaitonde in the web series. After the triumph of the initial season, the creators decided to continue the story with a second season. Sacred Games 2 was unveiled in 2019. However, in a recent interview, Nawazuddin disclosed that there are no plans for a third season of Sacred Games. Curious to know the reason behind this decision? Let’s delve into it!

Nawazuddin Siddiqui stated that he has no intention of participating in another web show that heavily features abusive language. Citing his experience with the Sacred Games series, Nawazuddin mentioned that he has done it once and is not interested in doing a series with such content for multiple seasons. “I have experienced this situation before (with Sacred Games). My directors grew weary following two seasons and decided against creating a third season. Additionally, all actors declined to participate in a third season. What’s done is done. Even Anurag (Kashyap) and (Vikramaditya) Motwane are not interested in repeating the same storyline. Creative individuals tend to lose interest quickly. Many individuals suggested that I should produce a third season of Sacred Games,” he mentioned.

During the conversation, Nawazuddin Siddiqui also discussed the prevalence of profanity in web series. He mentioned that the use of abusive language has evolved into a profitable trend in OTT shows. Despite being one of the pioneers in this trend, Siddiqui stated that he would decline any offers to star in a series filled with profanity.
