Prathinidhi 2 Review

Story:

Chay (Nara Rohit) is a freelance journalist who is not afraid of anything. Uday Bhanu, a former journalist, returns from the US and establishes a news channel, and makes him the Channel CEO. Through fearless interviews and breaking news, Chay creates a buzz on the channel in public. One day, a Bomb Blast happens at the state CM Prajapathi’s Camp office. The rest of the story revolves around discovering who is responsible for the bombing and how or if Chay is connected to it.

Performances:

Nara Rohit has returned to the Big Screen after a five-year hiatus. Rohit’s captivating dialogue delivery made a few scenes very appealing, but he could not do more than that. Sachin Kedkar was well suited for Chief Minister’s character. Jishu Sen Gupta was fine. Ajay Ghosh and Prudhvi played routine characters. Dinesh Tej is okay as the CM’s son. Ajay, Uday Bhanu, Tanikella Bharani, and Sree were just present. Indraja is seen in a short role.

Analysis:

Almost ten years ago, Nara Rohit released Prathinidhi, and now came up with the second part of his successful film. The second part has Popular Journalist TV5 Murthy make his directional debut. Prathinidhi 2 has been accused of being a propaganda film due to the combination of Rohit and Murthy. The timing of the release gave room for obvious doubts. However, Prathinidhi 2 is not a propaganda film as except for a few dialogues that are related to AP politics, the film is about a Journalist’s fight against the dishonesty and injustice in society.

Positives:

A few scenes work well because of some intense dialogues mouthed by Nara Rohit. Though farfetched, the scene in which the importance of the Vote is told appears to be an effective one.

Negatives:

The main problem with the movie is that it’s weak writing and narrative. Prathinidhi 2 resembles a social commentary rather than a film. The establishment of an honest journalist’s character is done very poorly in the first half. Most of the scenes which should have been the best moments of the film do not naturally blend into the proceedings and look like a farce. The twist at the beginning of the second half appears interesting but as soon as the CBI enters the film falls flat, and the entire investigation process is a tedious farce. The face off between a CBI Officer and a Journalist looked completely illogical.

Review: (2/5)

*Last Line: Prathinidhi 2 — A Boring and Sluggish Political Drama
