Chief Minister and YSR Congress president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had shifted one more minister from his cabinet to a new constituency. He had earlier shifted three ministers from their own constituencies to the new constituency.
On Thursday Minister Usha Sricharan was shifted from Kalyanadurgam Assembly constituency to Penugonda constituency. The Minister said that she would be contesting from here because of the social engineering that Jagan Mohan Reddy is implementing in the party.
Earlier, Ministers Meruga Nagarjuna, Adumulapu Suresh and Vidudala Rajani were shifted from their constituencies to the new constituency. Another former minister Mekathoti Sucharitha was also shifted from her Prathipadu constituency to Tadikonda constituency where sitting MLA Undavalli Sridevi was suspended for anti-party activities.
While Suresh was sent to Kondepi from Yerragondapalem, Rajani was shifted to Guntur West from Chilakaluripet and Nagarjuna from Vemuru to Santhanuthalapadu.
The chief minister, by shifting Usha Sricharan to Penugonda had denied ticket to the sitting MLA and former minister M Shankara Narayana. The chief minister met Shankara Narayana the other day at his camp office and told him that he would not be part of the 2024 race. He also promised to take care of the political interests of Shankara Narayana once the elections are over.
The chief minister is holding reviews in every district and is holding meetings with the MLAs who he wants to drop or shift to the new constituency. So far, the chief minister shifted 15 sitting MLAs to the new constituencies.
Sources in the ruling YSR Congress say that the chief minister is geared up to shift at least 25 sitting MLAs from their presence constituencies to the new constituencies. He is also likely to drop another 25 MLAs from the contest.
