The Kannada moviegoers were happy when they learned that Pruthvi Ambar’s first cop drama, Matsyagandha, was finally able to get an OTT partner after seven months of its theatrical release. However, their hopes were thrashed as the film did not make it to streaming on the day it was announced. Matsyagandha was supposed to arrive on Cinebazzar OTT on September 20, 2024, but the film did not arrive on the said date.
According to the inside reports, it is being said that Cinebazzar OTT, the digital platform, got to know that some piracy sites were planning to release Matsyagandha at the same time as their premiere. So, to avoid this, the digital platform decided to upload an altered version of the film without the climax. Matsyagandha was not a good hit at the box office, but it received a positive response from audiences and reviewers. So the viewers were excited about the OTT release of the film. As said above, to avoid the film going into the hands of piracy sites, the Cinebazzar OTT had to hold the film’s release for a few days. The new OTT release date of Matsyagandha is this Friday.
Bhaskar R of Cinebazzar OTT said that their platform operates on TVOD (Transactional Video on Demand), so if a film is made available on piracy sites, then it can have a negative impact on their platform. The team of the digital platform is trying to make sure that the film will be available on their OTT only and not on any other pirated spaces. Matsyagandha will now be made available for streaming on Cinebazzar OTT from September 27, 2024.
