Jay Shah’s Unanimous Re-Election as Asian Cricket Council President

Jay Shah’s Unanimous Re-Election as Asian Cricket Council President

In a significant development, Jay Shah is set to continue his role as the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) following his unanimous re-election at the ACC Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Bali. Currently serving as the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Shah’s extension for another year was proposed by Shammi Silva, the president of Sri Lanka Cricket, and received unanimous support from all ACC members.

This marks Jay Shah’s second consecutive term as the ACC president, a position that traditionally rotates among full ICC members in the continental body. Shah took over the presidency in January 2021 from Nazmul Hassan, becoming the youngest administrator to secure re-appointment in this role.

Expressing gratitude for the continued trust placed in him, Shah emphasized the commitment to the all-round development of cricket, with a particular focus on regions where the sport is still in its early stages. As the first person to secure two consecutive terms as ACC president, Jay Shah reaffirms the organization’s dedication to nurturing cricket across Asia. His leadership and vision will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping the future of cricket development in the continent.
