BCCI Proposes To Remove Toss From Cricket Matches

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has put forward a series of significant proposals aimed at revamping the domestic cricket structure in the country. One of the most notable suggestions is the elimination of the toss in the CK Nayudu Trophy, the premier domestic under-23 red-ball competition. If approved, the visiting team will have the right to decide whether to bat or bowl first, a move designed to create a more level playing field.

In addition to the toss abolition, the BCCI has proposed a new points system for the CK Nayudu Trophy, aimed at promoting well-rounded performances. Teams will be awarded points for batting and bowling performances in the first innings, in addition to the traditional points for first-innings lead or outright wins. The effectiveness of this system will be reviewed at the end of the season, with the possibility of implementing it in the prestigious Ranji Trophy for the following year.

Addressing concerns raised by domestic captains and coaches, the BCCI has also proposed increasing the gap between matches to allow players sufficient time for recovery and maintain peak performance throughout the grueling domestic season. Moreover, the board has acknowledged the challenges posed by adverse weather conditions in certain regions and has vowed to schedule matches in a manner that minimizes disruptions caused by inclement weather.
