The latest Bollywood movie, Article 370, starring Yami Gautam saw a face off against Vidyut Jamwal’s action film, Crakk this weekend. On February 23rd, Article 370 collected 5.75 Cr net in India on its first day. Aditya Jambhale is the director of the movie and Jyoti Deshpande, Lokesh Dhar, and Aditya Dhar, who is Yami’s husband, are the producers.
With the Lok Sabha elections approaching, a section of the media is describing it as a ‘propaganda’ movie supporting the Modi government. However, the audiences have given a good opening for the film at the box office. The reviews are also encouraging, and the trade circles expect the film to continue the momentum. The offer of Rs. 99 by PVR Inox Cinemas has also worked well for the film’s ticket sales. Aditya Dhar debuted as a director with Uri: The Surgical Strike, which was released on January 11 of that year, just before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections (April-May 2019).
Regarding the issue, Yami stated that anyone who calls it names like ‘propaganda’, ‘jingoism’, and ‘chest-thumping’ cannot enjoy the movie. She pointed out that anyone who enters a movie theater with a preconceived notion of what it’s about will never be able to feel or enjoy the movie.
