Dhruva Natchathiram once again postponed?

Dhruva Natchithram, a project helmed by the renowned director Gautham Vasudev Menon, has faced an extensive delay, with its release hanging in the balance. Notably, Menon is celebrated for his distinctive filmmaking style, blending class with action, a trait that has earned him acclaim from netizens. The film, starring Chiyaan Vikram as a Covert Operative leading a team called “The Basement,” embarked on its shooting journey in 2017, spanning various countries. The trailer underscores the impressive production values, promising a narrative that delves into covert operations to dismantle terrorist organizations without being tethered by Law and Order. The ensemble cast includes Ritu Varma, Simran, Prathiban, and Radhika Sharath Kumar in pivotal roles, with the musical score crafted by Harris Jayaraj.

Initially conceived as a single film, Dhruva Natchithram encountered a significant twist when it was later split into two parts, with the first installment titled Chapter One – Yuddha Kaandam. The film is not only directed but also produced by Gautham Vasudev Menon. However, the grand vision of the project led to an over-the-top budget, plunging it into a financial crisis that has hampered its release in theaters. This financial strain, reportedly amounting to Rs 8 crores, has brought the film’s progress to a standstill, leading to a prolonged delay. Despite multiple date announcements over five years, the film’s makers finally settled on a release date of November 24th, 2023, accompanied by a trailer cut to reassure eager fans. Unfortunately, as the financial woes persist, the film faces yet another setback, with bookings not even open in Tamil Nadu, signaling another postponement.

The anticipation among fans for Dhruva Natchithram has been met with a series of disappointments, as the film’s release remains uncertain. The hope is that the financial issues, including Menon’s reported obligation of Rs 8 crores at the Madras High Court, will be resolved, allowing the project to finally grace the theaters. Despite the challenges, enthusiasts are left with a sense of anticipation, eagerly awaiting the day when Chiyaan Vikram’s vintage charm will grace the screen, and the delayed project will see a smooth release.
