One of the limited Kannada movies that has garnered praise from both critics and viewers is the science fiction film Blink. Starring Dheekshith Shetty from Dia, the movie was helmed by first-time director Srinidhi Bengaluru. Initially facing challenges in securing screens and showtimes, the film eventually gained momentum due to positive word-of-mouth. However, with a constant influx of new films hitting the theaters every week, maintaining a presence on screens proved to be a daunting task. Blink recently concluded its theatrical run after a moderately successful 25-day period.
The movie features not only Dheekshith but also Vajradheer Jain, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Suresh Anagalli, Chaithra J Achar, and Mandara Battalahalli in significant roles. The storyline of Blink revolves around Apurva, portrayed by Dheekshith, who is raised by his mother as an only child in Bengaluru. While juggling his studies and various odd jobs, Apurva’s life takes a turn when a stranger claims that his long-lost father might still be alive despite having abandoned the family years ago. With a supportive girlfriend by his side, Apurva embarks on a journey to uncover the truth about his father’s disappearance.
Apurva discovers that certain inquiries are more suitable to remain unresolved as he confronts unpleasant and distressing realities. Srinidhi Bengaluru’s screenplay not only integrates time travel into the story, but also delves into the protagonist’s Oedipus complex.
