Karthik (Narne Nithin), a software engineer working in Hyderabad, moves to his hometown, Pasarlapudilanka, to work from home for a few months. He falls in love with Pallavi (Nayan Sarika), a girl from the same town. Pallavi also eventually falls for Karthik, and when everything seems good, she says yes to her father, who brings a marriage proposal with another man. Why did Pallavi back off from her love? How does Karthik convince Pallavi or father to make his love successful? Did Karthik and Pallavi eventually get married? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.
MAD fame Narne Nitthin suited the character, and his performance was fine, except for a few crucial moments where he could have done better. Nayan Sarika did a good job as the female lead. She adds the required character with her apt expressions. Rajkumar Kasireddy is superb with his excellent comedy timing. Ankith Koyya also delivered a commendable performance. Senior Hero Vinod Kumar appears in a brief but crucial role, and he did his job perfectly. Mime Gopi gets a good buildup as the heroine’s father, but his character was not properly used.
Anji K. Maniputhra, the director of AAY, tried to make a rural entertainer with a neat message at the end. The first half of the film was filled with lots of fun moments, and the director used the characters of Rajkumar Kasireddy and Ankith Koyya very well to generate fun. The interval twist is expected, but the reason behind the heroine’s change of mind is something that is not seen in regular films. After this turn in the film, the narration gets a bit weaker as the proceedings do not have much effect and the fun parts also become repetitive. However, the pre-climax and climax portions work properly and end the film on a positive note.
As said above, the hilarious parts in the first half work very well. The crucial scene between Karthik and Pallavi near the pre climax is also effective. The backstory for Vinodkumar at the end raises the tempo of the film. Music by Ram Miriyala and Ajay Arasada is another plus point for the film. The songs and background score sync in with the film’s mood along with neat visuals.
Though the film had an emotional core underneath it, the director did not use it to the fullest. The comedy scenes that worked in the first half get repetitive in the latter half. The backstory of Karthik’s father and the emotional turmoil between Karthik and Pallavi could have been explored in a better way. Also, a bit of vulgar dialogues here and there work against the intention of making a clean entertainer.
