Will BJP rescue the TDP in 2024 elections?

The opposition TDP is looking forward to the BJP leadership for a tie-up in the 2024 general elections to the state assembly. The party is in desperate need of a helping hand from the BJP top leadership. He is already tied-up with the Jana Sena and is working on seat sharing. If BJP also joins the club, it will benefit TDP more any the BJP itself.

But the BJP leaders seems to have several thoughts before giving their hand to the TDP. The first thing is that the BJP leaders knew that TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is not a trustworthy friend. He is known as a betrayer and can shift any blame on the BJP after the elections.

Naidu had made several promises to the people, which are financially more than what chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is giving now. This would require a big helping hand from the Central government to implement them. If the Central government fails to meet these financial requirements of the state government, it is for sure that Chandrababu Naidu would shift the blame on the BJP leadership.

The BJP leaders are not ready to be the villains in the eyes of the people of Andhra Pradesh anymore. They were made villains once in the past in the special category status, where Naidu accepted the proposal, welcomed it and again blamed the BJP. He welcomed the special package promised by the BJP-led government at the Centre in the place of special category status. However, when he broke the alliance with the BJP, Naidu projected the BJP as the villains. The BJP is not ready for this drama once again.

The second reason is political for the BJP leadership. They have a full majority in the Lok Sabha and would get the same after the 2024 general election. But the problem is that they need a helping hand in Rajya Sabha where they run short of numbers. The ruling YSR Congress has 9 members in the upper house and would be getting another two in February this year. The total strength of the YSR Congress would go up to 11, the fourth highest after BJP, Congress and Trinamool Congress.

The BJP is not ready to lose this support. Moreover, Jagan Mohan Reddy had been a trusted and loyal friend to the BJP for the past five years. The BJP leadership never had any problem with the YSR Congress and hence they are not ready to lose a trusted friend like Jagan Mohan Reddy for an undependable ally like Chandrababu Naidu.
