They backstabbed and betrayed NTR!

N T Rama Rao created history by floating a political party and coming to power in a short period of time. He started his party in 1982 and came to power in 1983.

He also became part of the history by losing power to Nadendla Bhaskara Rao in 1984. Bhaskara Rao unseated NTR and became the chief minister. NTR made a hue and cry and led several protests across the state and even in Delhi.

The media was with NTR, and people also rallied for NTR in the villages. It was fight for democracy and finally NTR won the battle. He became the chief minister. He went for polls again in 1985 and came back to power. He was in office till 1989 and lost the power in the subsequent elections.

After a gap of five years, NTR bounced back to power in 1994. He became chief minister in the same year and of course, married Lakshmi Parvathi.

Again, for the second time, NTR was thrown out of power in 1995 August. But this time, the media was not with NTR. It was with Chandrababu Naidu. The entire media rallied behind Chandrababu Naidu. Perhaps for this reason, every other institution also supported Chandrababu Naidu.

The high court gave a verdict in favour of Chandrababu Naidu. The Election Commission of India recognised Chandrababu Naidu as the TDP president. The Assembly recognised Chandrababu Naidu as the Leader of the House.

Every institution thus stood firm behind Chandrababu Naidu. People say that Naidu managed everything and every institution, right from the courts to the Election Commission to the Legislative Assembly.

NTR cried. He travelled across the state. Told people how he was thrown out of power. He told people how he was betrayed and backstabbed. People started rallying for NTR. People began to question their MLAs for parting ways with NTR. They started mounting pressure on the MLAs to go back to NTR. The MLAs were under pressure and stopped visiting the constituencies.

NTR floated a new party – NTR Telugu Desam. He got a new election symbol – Lion. He planned a massive public meeting in Vijayawada and named it as Simha Garjana – the roar of a Lion. The situation was slowly turning in favour of NTR. At this point of time, NTR died on this day in 1996.

There was no enquiry on his death. No report given to the people on the death of NTR. Those who betrayed him and backstabbed him took over his body and completed the last rites. Thus, NTR was buried in the history of the state.
