The Hindi Version of Vijay Antony’s Murder Mystery is now available on this OTT Platform

The psychological thriller Kolai, starring Vijay Anthony, has recently been released in its Hindi-dubbed version on OTT platforms. Directed by Balaji K. Kumar, the Hatya film is now available to stream on SonyLIV. Alongside Vijay Anthony, Ritika Singh and Meenakshi Chaudhary play significant roles in the movie. Despite its release, the film received negative reviews from critics and failed to perform well at the box office.

In the movie, investigators discover the lifeless body of musician and model Leila in her apartment. The storyline unfolds as a classic murder mystery featuring potential suspects such as Sathish, Arjun, Aditya Kaushik (a marketing agent in Bombay), and Babloo (a robber). Five individuals, each with their own reasons, are implicated in the murder of Meenakshi Chaudhary in her residence. Ritika Singh, a rookie police officer, is assigned the challenging task of unraveling the case. Her superior urges her to enlist the help of her mentor and esteemed detective, Vijay Antony, to assist in the investigation. The subsequent narrative reveals that both she and Vijay Antony successfully crack the case. The director asserts that the movie is a reinterpretation of a previous film, Another Life (2001), and is inspired by an actual incident that took place in New York in 1923, centering around Edith Thompson and Frederick Bywaters.

In an interview, Balaji expressed his deep empathy for all those who contributed to the creation of Kolai. His ultimate objective was to craft a film to captivate a global audience. The filmmaker elucidated that this drove them to pursue a more polished and sophisticated aesthetic. Balaji highlighted that international audiences often associate Indian cinema predominantly with poverty, overlooking the rich and diverse aspects of India’s cultural heritage. With Kolai, he aspired to showcase India’s immense cultural legacy and ensure its success resonated worldwide.
