Tecno has announced the upcoming release of the Camon 30 Premier 5G, set to debut in the second quarter of this year (April-June). The highlight of this announcement is the introduction of the new Tecno PolarAce Imaging System, which promises to revolutionize smartphone photography.
The Tecno PolarAce Imaging System is built around a Sony chip called the CXD5622GG, which serves as an Image Signal Processor (ISP). This ISP is rated at an impressive 4.6 TFLOPS at FP16 (16-bit floating point), offering more compute power than the phone’s Dimensity 8200 Ultra chipset. Despite its power, the ISP is also touted to be more power-efficient than other ISPs, especially when processing tasks like full-scene AI noise reduction for HDR videos and 4K Ultra Night Vision videos.
One of the key features enabled by the PolarAce Imaging System is the Universal Tone, an AI-based solution for rendering accurate skin tones. Additionally, the AIGC Portrait mode allows users to modify portrait shots by adding or changing clothing styles, while the AI One Click Eraser can remove unwanted objects from a scene with a single click.
In terms of hardware, the Camon 30 Premier 5G will feature a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS as its main camera, along with a 70mm periscope lens for zooming (up to 60x hybrid zoom), portrait photos, and macro shots. The phone’s design is inspired by rangefinder cameras, with a circular camera island that resembles a zoom ring.
On the front, the Camon 30 Premier 5G will boast a 6.77″ OLED display with a resolution of 1,264 x 2,780px and a peak brightness of 1,400 nits. This will be the first non-foldable Tecno phone to feature an LTPO panel. The selfie camera on the front will also be a 50MP sensor with an autofocus lens.
Other notable features of the Camon 30 Premier 5G include a metal mid-frame for rigidity, a “breathing light” on the back that serves as a video recording indicator, a charging indicator, and more. The phone will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 70W fast charging, run Android 14 out of the box, and offer up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.
Overall, the Tecno Camon 30 Premier 5G with its PolarAce Imaging System and impressive hardware specifications is poised to set a new standard for smartphone photography and imaging capabilities.
