YSR Congress MLA and senior leader Anantha Venkatrami Reddy on Friday said that the TDP had resorted to violence across the state after the polling due to fear of losing the election. He said that the TDP would not get even a double-digit number in this election.
Speaking to media persons, Venkatrami Reddy alleged that the TDP resorted to violence in Tadipatri of Anantapur district with the support of the police. The police remained spectators to the violent incidents of the TDP, he said.
He further alleged that the election commission had to transfer the SPs and district collectors after the chief secretary and the DGP gave their reports. The SPs in several districts took the side of the TDP during the elections, he alleged. They did not listen to the repeated warnings by the senior officials like the chief secretary and the DGP, he said.
He found fault with the police entering into the house of MLA Kethireddy Pedda Reddy in Tadipatri and threatening the inmates. The police have destroyed the furniture in the MLAs house, he alleged.
Former MLA and YSR Congress leader Visweswara Reddy said that the violence was done as per the directions of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu. He said that Naidu had lost the confidence of winning the election and hence told his party leaders to target the YSR Congress leaders.
YSR Congress candidate for Singanamala Assembly constituency, Veeranjaneyulu condemned the violence by the TDP leaders. He said that the TDP leaders have attacked the YSR Congress leaders across the state with the support of the police and other senior officials.
