TDP-Jana Sena alliance, will it work?

The opposition TDP and the Jana Sena have started working together in Andhra Pradesh, ahead of the 2024 general election. The two parties have formed a coordination committee and another manifesto committee.

The two parties are likely to come up with single manifesto for the 2024 general election. TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan are working together to build a healthy relationship between the two parties at every level.

First meeting of the coordination committee of the two parties was held a couple of weeks ago and the second meeting is scheduled for Monday in Vijayawada. The leaders are breaking their heads to build good relationship among the cadre and the leaders from top to bottom. But the situation in the ground is something different. There is a wide gap between the leaders at the grassroots. The Jana Sena leaders, most of them are Kapus, are averse to meeting the TDP leaders, most of them are Kammas. They don’t see eye to eye in several villages in the state.

The differences went to a maximum level as the two parties fought the 2019 general election separately, each criticising the other. The rivalry continued till date with the leaders hurling abuses and criticism at each other.

It is not so easy to bring these warring leaders together and make them work together. The differences are so high even Pawan Kalyan and Chandrababu Naidu could not make them shake their hands in several places.

Even in Godavari districts, where the Jana Sena is said to be strong, the relationship between the TDP and Jana Sena leaders is same. They don’t see eye to eye and work hand in glove. It is, in other words, to be a difficult thing for the leaders of the two parties to bring them together and build camaraderie among these leaders.

It is to be seen how far Jana Sena chief and TDP leadership would build camaraderie among these leaders as they go for elections together.
