“Kushi,” Pawan Kalyan’s blockbuster film from the early stages of his career, is currently the talk of the town on social media. Well, it’s not because of a re-release but for other reasons indeed.
SJ Suriyah, who directed the blockbuster “Kushi” and is playing the antagonist in Nani’s upcoming film, “Saripodha Saanivaram,” which hits screens on August 29th, has stirred up some controversy. At the pre-release event for “Saripodha Saanivaram,” Priyanka Arul Mohan, the female lead of the film, asked SJ Suriyah about plans for “Kushi 2,” suggesting that it should feature Pawan Kalyan. This statement has sparked controversy in Kollywood, particularly among Vijay fans, since Vijay was the lead in the Tamil version of “Kushi,” and Priyanka, despite being a Tamil actress, did not mention his name.
The controversy highlights the ongoing comparisons between Tollywood and Kollywood. In a recent interview, SJ Suriyah mentioned that he had prepared a story for Pawan Kalyan but did not want to title it as a sequel. However, the project did not materialize as Pawan Kalyan was not interested in doing a love story. Suriyah added that he still wants to direct the film, with Vijay or even Nani as potential leads, and Priyanka would be a suitable choice for the female lead.
