Tabu is back in Hollywood

Tabu is all set to return to Hollywood after almost 12 years of absence. The talented actress, who was last seen in the film Life Of Pi alongside Irrfan Khan, has now been cast in the American series Dune: Prophecy. She will share the screen with esteemed British actors Olivia Williams and Emily Watson in this exciting new venture. This web series not only marks Tabu’s debut in Hollywood but also serves as an extension of the successful movies starring Timothy Chamelet, which were previously released in theaters.

As reported by Variety, Tabu has been cast as Sister Francesca in the series. Characterized as ‘strong, intelligent, and alluring,’ she is expected to make a significant impact. Having been the Emperor’s former love interest, she returns to the palace amid a change in the capital’s power dynamics. The show, named initially Dune: Sisterhood, was first announced in 2019. Based on the book Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson, the plot follows the journey of two Harkonnen sisters who establish the renowned sect known as Bene Gesserit. The platform for the show’s release has not been confirmed yet. The cast includes Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Mark Strong, Johdi May, Sarah-Sophie Boussnina, and Tabu. Additionally, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, and Shalom Brune-Franklin will play lead roles in the series.

Dune: Prophecy takes place in the same universe as Timothee Chamelet’s films, focusing on events that occurred 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ rise. There is also a third Dune film in development, though it remains to be seen whether it will be released before or after the show. Tabu starred in The Namesake, which premiered in 2006, and her most recent Hollywood film was Life of Pi, which also featured Irrfan Khan and was released in 2012. In Bollywood, Tabu’s last appearance was in Crew, where she acted alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon. This movie achieved great success at the Box Office and paved the way for the release of more female-led, content-driven films in theaters after the COVID-19 pandemic.
