As per the latest reports, the Malayalam film Manjummel Boys is poised to make its digital debut soon. This movie has already made significant box office records, not only in Kerala but also in other states. It has been stated that Chidambaram’s directorial work will be available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar starting May 3. In addition to Malayalam, the film will be accessible in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada on this popular digital platform. However, the cast and producers have yet to confirm this matter officially.
The film’s achievement is remarkable, considering it initially had only a Malayalam version, unlike several other recent blockbusters. Before its OTT release, the team successfully launched the Telugu and Hindi versions, earning a staggering Rs 250 crore at the box office. The makers reportedly received a significant sum for the digital rights from Disney+ Hotstar, considering the film’s commercial and theater success. The relatable theme of friendship and the thrilling survival genre attracted a multitude of people across the nation to experience it on the big screen.
The recent denial by the makers of The Manjummel Boys regarding the reports of an OTT release in April indicates that they currently have no intentions of making the film available on streaming platforms in the near future. It is worth noting that the Telugu dubbing of the film was being finalized during that period, and it was subsequently released in the Telugu states on April 6. Considering the fact that the Lok Sabha elections have resulted in the postponement of several significant Telugu releases, the producers of Manjummel Boys have recognized a favorable opportunity to maximize the film’s potential at the box office.
According to the producers’ statement, they will not commence preparations for the digital release of Manjummel Boys until after its theatrical run in the Telugu states has concluded. They had previously mentioned that they might select a date for the OTT release of Manjummel Boys during the second week of April.
