Kalki Sequel: Producer Ashwini Dutt talks about the filming and release date

The epic sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, is well on its way to becoming a blockbuster. Since its release on June 27, 2024, the movie has already grossed over Rs. 290 crore at the global box office in just two days. The film, which stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan in pivotal roles, is slated to have a sequel. Producer Aswini Dut recently confirmed that approximately 60 percent of the sequel’s shooting has already been completed.

As per the film’s producer, Aswini Dutt, approximately 60% of the filming for the highly anticipated Kalki 2898 AD sequel has already been completed. The remaining 40% consists of the most crucial scenes of the movie, which will require a significant amount of time to finish. This is why the production team has yet to provide any updates on the release date of the Kalki 2898 AD sequel. However, it is safe to assume that a significant update on this eagerly awaited project will be announced once the first part finishes its theatrical run.

In addition to the lead actors, the Kalki 2898 AD sequel is expected to bring back numerous supporting actors from the original film, including Bujji, the AI droid car, voiced by Keerthy Suresh. This potential reunion is sure to evoke a sense of nostalgia among fans. There are also unverified rumors hinting at the inclusion of several renowned stars from South Indian and Bollywood cinema in the supplementary cast of the sequel. Santhosh Narayanan, the composer, and the other members of the technical team are projected to be involved in all future episodes.
