Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will be shifting to Visakhapatnam in December this year. He had already asked the officials to find accommodation for both the offices and residences.
The chief minister made this statement in Visakhapatnam on Monday, after the inauguration of the Infosys office in the city. He said that Visakhapatnam is the only biggest city in the state and it would soon become a major city on par with Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.
The government is doing everything to make it a big city, the chief minister said and added that the city was announced as the executive capital of the state. The government is giving a little push to the city to become a major city in the state, along the east coast, he said.
The state government had already issued GOs asking the officials to get ready to shift their bases to Visakhapatnam. The government told the officials that the chief minister and other ministers would be camping in Visakhapatnam to review various developmental works in north Andhra region.
Hence the government wanted the officials to be available for the ministers and the chief minister in Visakhapatnam. Chief Secretary, K S Jawahar Reddy, issued orders directing the senior officials to find accommodation for both the offices and the residences.
Sources say that the buildings which are under construction in Visakhapatnam are nearing completion. They would require at least a month time to complete the finishing work. Though the chief minister wanted to shift to this city on Vijaya Dasami day, it has been differed due to incompletion of the works.
The chief minister wants to go for the elections with Visakhapatnam as the executive capital. He wants to shift his base to Visakha before the state goes for the elections, which, in other words, mean that he is committed for his three capitals theory.
It is to be seen how Visakhapatnam would react to this and how the people of other regions take it, in the elections.
