Chief Minister and YSR Congress president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday said that the opposition could stop distribution of cash transfer benefits to the people but not their victory in the elections. He said that the TDP and Jana Sena have stopped a handful of schemes due in April-May this year. The TDP had lodged a complaint with the election commission against distribution of these schemes, he said. The election commission had asked the state government to stop distribution of money to the beneficiaries till the election process is completed.
Jagananna Vidya Devena, input subsidy to the farmers and some more schemes were stopped because of Chandrababu Naidu’s complaint with the election commission. All these schemes are ongoing schemes and none of them is a new one. However, the election commission took the decision to stop the schemes. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that Chandrababu Naidu looks at everything for political gain. Politics is more important to Chandrababu Naidu than the welfare of the people, the chief minister said. He alleged that Chandrababu Naidu could go to any extent and stop welfare programmes for the people, if he believes that such distribution would not help his party.
Jagan Mohan Reddy appealed to the people to support the YSR Congress in the coming elections and ensure that the welfare programmes are continued. He also said that he would bring the volunteers’ system back to the track and ensure that the welfare programmes reach every doorstep. He said that his government had given Rs 2.7 lakh crore benefits to the women and provided 2.31 lakh government jobs to the youth. The government schools and hospitals were changed with new and additional infrastructure under Nadu-Nedu programme, he said. He said that his government had given 31 lakh house sites to the women in the state and 22 lakh houses are under construction. The farmers are given 9 hours quality power during the day time. The farmers are helped through the Rythu Bharosa Kendras across the state, the chief minister said.
