Interesting Casting Coup for Ramlali

Filmmaker Omung Kumar, renowned for directing films such as Mary Kom and Sarabjit, is gearing up for his latest project. It has been reported that he has acquired the rights to create a movie based on the life of Ramlali. For those unfamiliar, Ramlali is a courageous woman who stood up against the notorious dacoit Dadua, whose reign of terror plagued the ravines of Uttar Pradesh. The filmmakers have three talented actresses in mind for the lead role: Kriti Sanon, Bhumi Pednekar, and Nushrratt Bharruccha.

According to a source from the movie’s creative team, the film has been titled “Ramlali” and will shed light on her transformation from a simple woman to the fearless Phoolan of Chitrakoot and Patha Ki Sherni. While Omung Kumar has been occupied with the decorations for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding celebrations recently, he is now expected to finalize the script’s last draft. Once that is complete, the casting process will commence. The source also revealed that Randeep Hooda is the top choice to portray Dadua in the film. As for the role of Ramlali, the filmmakers are considering approaching Bhumi, Kriti, or Nushrratt. The filmmaker is anticipated to commence work on the project by the end of the year.

For those unfamiliar with Ramlali’s story, she took up arms to combat the dacoits. District Magistrate Jagannath Singh acknowledged her bravery by granting her a licensed rifle. Furthermore, she dedicated herself to teaching self-defense to girls and women in her village. One of her real-life incidents, where she refused to surrender a bank manager’s son to Dadua and his gang despite their threats, will be a pivotal moment in Omung Kumar’s film. This act of bravery became widely known and celebrated.
