Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s first film together ‘Fighter’ was expected to take off with a bang at the box office. However, the advance booking numbers have been rather underwhelming contrary to the hype around the star pairing.
As per early estimates, the actioner has sold around 1 lakh tickets amounting to ₹3.66 crore in pre-sales. Despite the presence of big stars like Hrithik and Deepika, the numbers are lower than anticipated. Analysts feel the film should have seen at least double the amount in advances given the craze for the fresh jodi.
While the action genre and high-octane sequences are key draws, the lacklustre response in advance ticket sales is surprising. Major cities like Mumbai, Delhi have seen modest bookings so far. It remains to be seen if Fighter manages to draw audiences to theatres on day 1 based on largely on the lead pair’s star power and the visually appealing trailer. However, the opening day numbers seem likely to be lower than initial expectations.
