Episode 4 Review: House of the Dragon Season 2

“Rook’s Rest intense battle claims two vital roles”

The episode starts off with Aemond having shady dreams in Harrenhal. Another surprising cameo of Milly Alcock as young Rhaenyra brings joy to the fans. Meanwhile, Ser Criston Cole is marching towards every castle, claiming them and establishing himself as a King Maker. While all these events unfold, Aegon is having difficulties ruling the kingdom.

The interaction between Aegon and Alicent looks intriguing and leads to a mischievous decision by the king, resulting in an unexpected climax.

The episode sets high standards with the presence of Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra, who enters the scene after a 30-minute wait. From then on, the episode features solid dialogues followed by a huge massacre during the war of dragons at Rook’s Rest.

Vhagar has once again become the deadliest enemy, ridden by Aemond, who witnesses the end of two vital characters of the show. Hats off to Rhaenys, who fought well and served despite the odds. But the question now lingers: is the King dead or alive?

With things getting serious towards the war, it will be interesting to see Cole’s next move and how Alicent reacts. On the other end, Lord Corlys Velaryon joining the battle alongside Princess Rhaenyra promises an epic battle and drama in the coming episodes.
