In a much-anticipated comeback, Prithvi Shaw is all set to grace the cricket field again as the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) includes him in their Ranji squad. The decision follows Shaw’s clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA), signaling his readiness for competitive cricket. The 24-year-old batsman has been sidelined since August of the previous year due to a knee ligament injury.
Ajinkya Rahane will lead the squad, and they are scheduled to face Bengal at the iconic Eden Gardens starting from February 2. The NCA, which had previously emphasized a cautious approach to Shaw’s return, granted him clearance after a rigorous period of batting and fielding drills, coupled with higher volumes of workload to test his preparedness.
With Shaw’s inclusion, Mumbai’s 17-member travelling squad gains a formidable boost. Currently leading the Elite Group B Ranji points table with 20 points from four games, Mumbai boasts an impressive record of three wins and one loss.
The Mumbai squad features a mix of experience and young talent, with the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, and the returning Prithvi Shaw. As Shaw gears up to make his presence felt on the cricketing stage once again, fans eagerly anticipate his contributions to Mumbai’s continued success in the Ranji Trophy.
