Did Naidu play political game with Pawan in Telangana?

The Jana Sena had lost deposits in the just-concluded general election to the Telangana State Assembly. The party contested from eight Assembly seats in alliance with the BJP and lost deposits in all eight places.

This happened even after BJP top leaders and Pawan Kalyan himself campaigning for the party. There were huge crowds for Pawan Kalyan meetings during his election campaign. But the vote share was zero when compared to the crowd at the meetings.

People say that TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu played key role in not giving votes to the Jana Sena in Telangana. He had reportedly told the TDP leaders and his supporters not to give votes to Jana Sena here as it would have impact on seat sharing in Andhra Pradesh.

“If Jana Sena gets more votes in Telangana, the party would demand more seats in Andhra Pradesh,” Chandrababu Naidu reportedly told his supporters and followers. Keeping this in mind, the TDP sympathisers have not transferred their vote to the Jana Sena. They have also worked against Jaan Sena to ensure that the party would not get deposits.

The poor performance of Jana Sena in Telangana elections had now given an upper hand for the TDP to offer Assembly seats to the Jana Sena in Andhra Pradesh. The party is now in advantageous position to restrict the Jana Sena’s demands to the number that the TDP wishes to offer.

Meanwhile, it is not clear whether there would be transfer of votes between the two parties in Andhra Pradesh. Leaders of the two parties are fighting against each other in several Assembly constituencies. The fighting was visible and open in the media, where the leaders of the two parties could not conduct the coordination committee meeting for the next elections.
