The BJP is likely to make a call on having alliance with the TDP or not in the first week of January. According to the sources, the BJP national leadership is seized of the matter and is planning to close the issue in the first week.
Senior leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are ready to hold a meeting and decide whether to go with the TDP or not. There is pressure from the senior leaders to go with the TDP in Andhra Pradesh.
Several senior leaders including Y S Chowdary, C M Ramesh, Sathya Prasad and others are pressing the party top leadership to have alliance with the TDP. They say that the TDP would help the party win at least a couple of Lok Sabha seats and a handful of Assembly seats.
These leaders are strongly lobbying the top leadership of the party to go with the TDP. Even Chandrababu Naidu is working on these lines to have alliance with the BJP. He sent feelers to the party top leadership to come for alliance with the party.
Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan is also strongly lobbying with the BJP leaders for alliance with the TDP. He is firm on going with the TDP and wanted the BJP leaders too to come with him. He also sent a communication to the BJP top leaders asking them to join the alliance.
It is now to be seen if the BJP top leadership would prefer to go with the TDP or stay away from the alliance. Quite interestingly, some of the BJP leaders from Andhra Pradesh are not in favour of having any alliance with the TDP. They believe that the TDP is not a trusted ally, and they were cheated by the party twice in the past.
They also recall how Chandrababu Naidu and other TDP leaders have mocked Naredra Modi and Amit Shah from 2018, when the TDP broke alliance with the BJP.
It is to be seen what decision that the BJP leadership would take as the TDP is sending SOS to them on forging alliance!
