Babu’s liquor case hearing in high court today

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s liquor case is coming up for hearing in the Andhra Pradesh high court on Wednesday. The AP CID advocates will present their arguments in court today.

The advocates for Chandrababu Naidu and then minister Kollu Ravindra placed their arguments on Tuesday. They told the court that the case is purely a political issue and has no legal value. They also told the court that the government is taking political vendetta against the opposition parties and the case is one such case.

The advocates also told the court that the previous government did no wrong in giving permissions for the liquor companies. The government duly followed all the rules in allocation of the licenses to the liquor companies.

They also said that the government had followed the rules in getting fees from the liquor companies and there was no loss to the state exchequer as being claimed by the government. The APCID did not follow the rules either in filing the case or the FIR, they said.

The CID advocates are scheduled to come up with their arguments on the case in court today. They are likely to present more details during the course of arguments in the high court.

The government alleged that the TDP leaders who were in power between 2014 and 2019 indulged in heavy corruption causing heavy loss to the exchequer. The government said that licenses were given to the party leaders and the liquor was purchased at higher prices.

Meanwhile, the TDP leaders denied the charges in the liquor scam. They said that it was a pure political vendetta, and the previous government did not violate any rule while granting permission.
