AP CID gives a new twist in the skill development scam

The officials of the Andhra Pradesh CID have given a new twist to the popular skill development scam in the ACB court in Vijayawada on Tuesday. They produced A13, Chandrakanth Shah in the court as approver in the court.

Former chief minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu is also accused in the case and he was arrested on September 9 at Nandyal. He was later sent to the judicial remand to the Rajamahendravaram central jail.

Naidu got interim bail on health grounds after serving 52 days in jail. Later, he got regular bail from November 29 and is currently on it. There are several other cases filed by the APCID against Chandrababu Naidu, which are in AP high court and supreme court.

Chandrababu Naidu is accused of swindling over Rs 371 crore from the exchequer through the skill development programme. The money was routed through various shell companies and finally landed in the TDP accounts, the CID alleged.

Naidu had filed quash petition in the supreme court on skill development scam. The petition is being heard in the court.

However, in the meanwhile, the CID produced one of the accused as approver in the ACB court in Vijayawada. The court accepted the CID’s proposal and posted the case to January 5 to record the statement of Chandrakanth Shah.

As Chandrakanth Shah is also accused in the skill development case, his witness as approver is likely to tighten the grip against Chandrababu Naidu. He is scheduled to reveal several facts to the courts and the CID once his petition accepted to consider him as approver in the case.
