Akhil Akkineni is the younger son of Nagarjuna. He debuted in films as a child artist in the film Sisindri (1994), for which he won a Filmfare Special Award. He was shot to fame for playing good cricket for Tollywood in Celebrity Cricket League as he was the captain of Telugu Warriors cricket team. Ever since he came into light Akkineni fans were eagerly waiting for his film to launch as a hero. Akhil appeared in a brief cameo appearance for the prestigious project from Akkineni family titled Manam. Directed by Vikram K Kumar. It was not only the cameo appearance but helped the content to justify its point and in the process of doing so Akhil was introduced on screens to the Telugu Film Industry hinting that he will be having his debut soon. Akhil who shared his screen presence with his grandfather ANR, Father Nagarjuna and brother Naga Chaitanya was well received from the netizens for his screen presence.
After the announcement of his debut film Akhil The Power of Jua directed by VV Vinayak. There were high expectations of him from the netizens and fans expected that Akhil would carry the legacy of the Akkineni family. Beating all the odds, Despite a huge opening on day 1 for his debut film it miserably failed at the box office. Netizens felt that the story of the film had come out of nowhere and felt logicless most of the time, however Akhil Akkineni screen presence was well appreciated and were surprised to see his dance moves. Taking this into consideration Nagarjuna relaunched Akhil through a love story under Annapurna Studios with Hello. After a 2 year gap for Akhil Akkineni the film got released with mixed reports. Akhil who once again took a gap and tried to test his luck one more time through Mr Majnu also failed to work at the box office. Despite the appreciations coming for Akhil his films are not working at the Box Office. Finally it took GA 2 pictures and Bommarillu Bhaskar to give a break for Akhil through Most Eligible Bachelor with a proper love story however it didn’t last long as he had to face another failure through Agent.
Ever since the failure of Agent which was released on 28th April 2023 Akhil stayed silent and there was no announcement of his next project. It’s been 7 months now and there is no sign of his upcoming project yet. Akkineni Fans are frustrated with his planning and criticized for taking long gaps from one film to another. The netizens also feel that he has to come to reality by not okaying the projects which are out of reach. Instead of coming with the projects to save the world he has to prove first by doing some good commercial films.
