Rani Mukerji mesmerized audiences with her terrific portrayal of Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani, a cop drama produced by Yash Raj Films and released in 2014. The film saw good success at the box office, and everyone loved the performance of Rani, which paved the way for the sequel, Mardaani 2, which was released in theaters five years later. Audiences also loved the sequel, and it became a success. The latest reports from Bollywood industry circles suggest that Rani will again appear as Shivani Shivaji Roy in the third part of Mardaani, five years after the second part.
Reportedly, Rani will start shooting Mardaani 3 in 2025. Aditya Chopra and the writing team worked for so many days to live up to the franchise’s reputation, and it is being said that they are currently at the finishing stage of the screenplay and will soon start the pre-production. The fans of Rani Mukerji will love the news that their favorite actress will once again appear as the fighting cop.
Pradeep Sarkar directed Mardaani (2014), which deals with the concept of women trafficking and forcibly making them high-class escorts and selling them. Gopi Puthran directed Mardaani 2 (2019), and the film shows Shivani Shivaji Roy fighting with a young, psychopath serial killer who murders girls/women. Apart from Rani Mukerjee, Vishal Jethwa was very much appreciated for his performance as the antagonist in the film. Now, it will be interesting to see whether the makers of the Mardaani series will live up to audiences’ expectations.
