Will Aavesham get the expected success on OTT?

Fahadh Faasil’s most recent Malayalam success, Aavesham, will debut on Amazon Prime Video on May 9th. Unlike Manjummel Boys and Premalu, which took over two months to premiere on OTT platforms after their theatrical release, Aavesham will be available on OTT within just four weeks of its theatrical run.

The film, directed by Jithu Madhavan of Romancham fame, has garnered extensive praise, particularly for Fahadh’s exceptional acting. Fahadh’s portrayal of the eccentric Bengaluru underworld figure has struck a chord with viewers, with his signature catchphrase, “Eda Mone,” becoming a sensation. Aavesham thrives on the energy of a theater audience, with its moments that demand applause. However, the online streaming experience, though convenient, may not capture the same thrill. This could lead to a perception of the film as overrated despite its undeniable brilliance. So, there is a small debate and enthusiasm about the reception of Aavesham after its OTT arrival.

A portion of OTT viewers currently label popular movies as overrated. Recent instances include Premalu and Om Bheem Bush. Aavesham is a film perfect for the big screen. These types of movies are most enjoyable when watched in theaters. Observing the OTT audience’s reaction towards it will be intriguing. Regardless of the feedback from the OTT audience, the truth is that Aavesham is a box office hit.
