The film ‘Maharaja’, featuring actor Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, is scheduled to be released in cinemas on June 14, as confirmed by the film’s producers on social media. This movie will be the 50th film, in which the actor plays the lead role. Vijay Sethupathi was last seen in the Hindi-Tamil black comedy film Merry Christmas, is now preparing for the upcoming release of his 50th film as a protagonist, Maharaja. The highly anticipated movie is scheduled to hit the silver screens on June 14, as officially announced by the film’s creators on various social media platforms.
Maharaja is the creation of filmmaker Nithilan Saminathan, known for his directorial debut Kurangu Bommai. In addition to Vijay Sethupathi, the cast of Maharaja includes Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Natty (Natraj), Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Mamta Mohandas, Singampuli, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, Vinoth Sagar, Boys Manikandan, Kalki, Sachana Namidass, and others. This film will be Anurag’s third venture as an actor in Tamil cinema, following Imaikaa Nodigal and Leo. Backed by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy, the creators of Maharaja have unveiled a captivating trailer for the film. The trailer features Vijay Sethupathi as a hairdresser and the titular character, visiting a police station to report a missing item. He mentions that something named Lakshmi has been stolen, although the nature of Lakshmi remains unclear, leaving the police puzzled. The trailer also introduces various characters from the storyline. The technical team behind Maharaja includes Dinesh Purushothaman as the cinematographer and B Ajaneesh Loknath as the music composer. Philomin Raj has taken on the editing responsibilities for the film.
Maharaja marks Vijay Sethupathi’s second release in 2024, following Merry Christmas. The actor recently completed filming for his upcoming project, Ace, in which Rukmini Vasanth plays the female lead. Additionally, Vijay Sethupathi is set to appear in Gandhi Talks, although the release date for this film has yet to be announced.
